The 4 Pillars Of Stable Leadership Posted: 30 Jun 2013 10:18 PM PDT One of the qualities I most admire in leaders is stability. The beautiful thing about stable leaders is they provide a stabilizing influence on others. They are leaders you can trust - they are leaders you can build around. Stable leaders model a level of constancy and consistency that individuals, teams, and organizations so desperately need, but often find missing. |

For Whom the (Closing) Bell Tolls Posted: 30 Jun 2013 09:41 PM PDT As the saying goes, markets take the stairs up and an elevator down. And boy did it the days after the last Fed meeting. I'm reminded of that old E.F. Hutton commercial every time Ben Bernanke makes a public statement. The Fed certainly has the market's attention, I'm just not sure it's capable of listening. The immediate impulse is to buy or sell, (and in the case of last week, sell with a capital 'S'), without much contemplation. |
Posted: 30 Jun 2013 09:39 PM PDT As a former Microsoft and Apple employee, I've always looked at Google from a different perspective. Many of my friends work there and I admire them for helping the company drive breakthrough innovation, from search to self-driving cars to now "intelligent" glasses. Google has had a foundational impact on Big Data, yet the company has the opportunity to better explain how its assets ultimately help developers make Big Data serve humans more effectively. |

Posted: 30 Jun 2013 08:57 PM PDT As Google prepares to roll out its blistering one-gigabit-per-second network in three states, communities around the country are starting to grapple with an uncomfortable truth—if they don't act now, they could be left out of the new gigabit-driven economy. |
Fan Interest In Rookies Leads The WNBA To Unprecedented Viewership Numbers Posted: 30 Jun 2013 08:57 PM PDT The WNBA is in the midst of a metamorphosis of its brand. Since the league began play in 1997, this year marks one of the most invigorating seasons for WNBA fans, players and teams alike. Much of the recent interest in the WNBA is the direct result of the entry this year of three talented players with persona and character to match: Brittney Griner, Skylar Diggins and Elena Delle Donne. According to the WNBA, during this season's first weekend, which saw Griner, Diggins and Delle Donne in their first games, the league saw attendance rise by 2.7 percent and teams' arenas filled to 85 percent capacity. The WNBA's opening weekend saw a game between the teams Delle Donne and Griner play for, the Chicago Sky and Phoenix Mercury. That game was the most-viewed WNBA game on ESPN2 in nine years, with 455,000 viewers tuning in to watch. |

Social Capital Is Path To Social Selling Posted: 30 Jun 2013 08:42 PM PDT Social capital is a new term that is gaining some attention. It is a term that builds on its more popular (and recent) cousin of "social selling" that claims that sales and business are changed by social media. Social capital is the idea that relationships and trust are like economic capital -- you can save it up and spend it. |
Asset Protection Planning And California Rule Of Professional Conduct 3-210 Posted: 30 Jun 2013 08:35 PM PDT The typical scenario involves a client who comes into your office and is financially underwater because of some bad real estate deals. The client wants to settle with the creditors, but can't bring them to the table. So the client wants you, as his or her attorney, to put together an asset protection plan that will in the best case make creditors uneasy about throwing good money after bad so that the creditors settle, and in the worst case will protect the client's assets if the creditors will not agree to a settlement of the client's liking. |
