Why We're "Shocked, Shocked" At NSA Surveillance Revelations Posted: 09 Jun 2013 10:55 PM PDT It was, to paraphrase Yogi Berra, déjà vu all over again. Fielding calls last week from journalists about reports the NSA had been engaged in massive and secret data mining of phone records and Internet traffic, I couldn't help but wonder why anyone was surprised by the so-called revelations. |
Will China Hand Over The NSA Whistleblower? Posted: 09 Jun 2013 10:42 PM PDT Hong Kong is suddenly ground zero for the NSA/PRISM whistleblower case. It finds itself de facto host to Edward Snowden, the American citizen who voluntarily revealed himself over the weekend as the source of the leaks. The situation could not come at a more awkward time for both China and America. |

Insurgents attack near Kabul airport Posted: 09 Jun 2013 10:10 PM PDT KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — At least seven heavily armed Taliban insurgents attacked near Afghanistan's main airport Monday, apparently trying to attack NATO's airport headquarters with rocket-propelled grenades, assault rifles and at least one large bomb. Ohio Dept. of Insurance: Obamacare To Increase Individual-Market Health Premiums By 88 Percent Posted: 09 Jun 2013 09:35 PM PDT Democrats continue to try to dismiss the evidence that Obamacare will dramatically increase the cost of insurance for people who buy it on their own. But on Thursday, the Ohio Department of Insurance announced that, based on the rates submitted by insurers to date, the average individual-market health insurance premium in 2014 will come in around $420, "representing an increase of 88 percent" relative to 2013. "We have warned of these increases," said Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor in a statement. "Consumers will have fewer choices and pay much higher premiums for their health insurance starting in 2014." |
