China newspaper: Snowden could be useful to China Posted: 13 Jun 2013 10:10 PM PDT BEIJING (AP) — A popular Communist Party-backed newspaper is urging China's leadership to get more information from former defense contractor Edward Snowden rather than send him back to the U.S., because his revelations about secret U.S. surveillance programs concern China's national interest. |
Summer In Venice: A Rich Tapestry Of World Art Posted: 13 Jun 2013 10:15 PM PDT This summer, for the 55th time, the Venice Biennale features an overwhelming amount of art from all over the world. Those Who Love The Game Should Appreciate The Return Of The Big Three In The NBA Finals. Posted: 13 Jun 2013 10:02 PM PDT Image used at: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwyane_Wade (Photo credit: Wikipedia)Perhaps you saw the end of Game 3 of the NBA Finals. The Spurs were beating the Heat like drummers own snare drums. When the game was no longer in doubt, when Wade and James languished on the bench, when they watched the Spurs unleash the 3rd largest whoopin' in NBA history, the camera caught Wade and James make a few short comments to each other. Then both shared a slight nod barely disguising an all-knowing smile. It was as if they had some mostly unspoken code. Whatever they didn't verbalize then, they spoke volumes by action in Game 4. For those who love the game, they will appreciate the Big 3 Heat performance more than they will find reasons not to like them. Here's why. There is symmetry to their performance and their excellence. Wade and James both had 25 field goal attempts. James made 15 and Wade made 14. James had 11 rebounds. James had 33 points. |

Obama's decision to send U.S. weapons to opposition fighters came as the White House announced it had proof that President Bashar al-Assad's government had used chemical weapons against rebel forces in the civil war. Posted: 13 Jun 2013 07:34 PM PDT The Ethiopian Parliament on Thursday unanimously ratified an accord that replaces colonial-era deals under which Egypt and Sudan were awarded the majority of the world's longest river. The vote took place amid a dispute between Ethiopia and Egypt after Ethiopia last month started to divert Nile waters for a massive hydroelectric dam. Ethiopia's growing economy requires expanded electrical capacity, but Egypt fears that the dam will mean a diminished share of the Nile, which provides almost all of the desert nation's water needs.
