KABUL — A bomb blast in a picturesque area near the Afghan capital killed eight civilians on Tuesday, officials said, in the latest string of such attacks uncommon until recently near Kabul.

The remote controlled-bomb was hidden under a bridge until it detonated, hitting a mini-van in Paghman valley, in the western outskirts of Kabul, officials said.
