Is it Atherosclerosis for Ma Bell's Management? Its failed takeover of T Mobile cost it $3 billion in cash and it is also giving away spectrum valued at $1 billion. The stated point of the deal was it didn't have enough spectrum to meet its future needs for deploying LTE so why would you offer to give any away if the deal failed to gain approval? Doesn't even look good for the regulators.
