Iran aids Syria in tracking opposition via electronic surveillance, U.S. officials say Posted: 09 Oct 2012 12:09 PM PDT Iran is providing crucial equipment and technical help to Syria in its effort to track opposition forces through the Internet and other forms of electronic surveillance, according to U.S. officials. The aid is the latest example of how Iran is helping Syria in its battle against rebel forces threatening the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. China says accusations in House report are ‘groundless’ Posted: 09 Oct 2012 11:22 AM PDT BEIJING — China on Tuesday slammed as "groundless" a congressional report that called two Chinese telecom companies a threat to U.S. national security. The report, released Monday by the House Intelligence Committee, warned that the U.S. government and American companies should stop buying equipment from Huawei and ZTE — two of China's largest telecom firms — because they are loyal to the Chinese government and could be used in the future as a tool for Chinese spying.
